At long last we are getting our
website up and running again. As with all volunteer organizations there's always
so much to do and so little time to do it in. We have celebrated our 1st
anniversary of the reopened Museum and now are celebrating our second. This year
was the 30th anniversary of "The Great Fire" at the Greene County Courthouse in
Stanardsville. The program for our annual meeting this year included
reminiscences of those who were present. This includes firefighters, office
workers, lawyers, court staff and local property owners. Read more about that in
a recent newsletter. We will be putting past issues online in our archives
section as the near future. Or visit us to look through our scrapbook album
of the event.

We took a huge step forward this
summer in completing a catalog of our artifacts. Thanks to two
dedicated summer interns and a grant from the Virginia Foundation For The
Humanities. Each catalog page includes a detailed description of the item plus a
thumbnail photograph. With this information we are developing the
first in a series of new exhibits. One will focus on Farm and
Domestic Life. So stop in and see what we have found! The Museum is open
every Friday and Saturday from 10 till 3. We also will open the Museum upon
request whenever possible. The more advanced the request, the more likely we
will be able to find someone to meet with you. Our dedicated volunteers are
always delighted to welcome you.
