At our Annual Meeting on April 19th, we were treated to a series of delightful reminiscences about life in Stanardsville and Greene in the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Jerri Morris Tata and her daughter Kendall took us back to a time when ice-cream was 35 cents a bowl, and serious games of marbles took place in Court Square. Judy Fitzhugh Estes, talking about the 50s and 60s, had us all picturing kids roller-skating down Town Hill; between them, they sparked many more recollections from members in the audience. It was a wonderful afternoon, and we are hoping to have DVDs of the program to share.

The Museum is normally open every Friday and Saturday, from 10 till 3. This includes Saturday May 31st, which is also the day of the annual Methodist Church Strawberry Festival -so do drop by and see us when you’ve finished your strawberry breakfast., We will be closing a little early on Friday July 4th. Stanardsville Area Revitalization - *STAR* - is once again organizing a July 4th parade, so we will be open an hour early, at 9:00 am. We will close at 1:00 pm so that Museum Minders can get away to their Independence Day picnics.
