A History of Greene County 2002, by Don Covey. This volume is 365 pages of 8½ x 11 sheets in a loose-leaf binding, easy for researchers and to make copies. This is a completely new book, which is quite comprehensive and updates the much older and out-of-date History of Greene County. $23 plus $5.50 postage.
Family Graveyards of Greene Co., VA, Volume I (1999) & II (2001). Volume II is mainly comprised of Greene County VA Church, Community Cemeteries, and Family Graveyards. Like Volume I, the information in Volume II was collected by teams of individuals headed up by Earl Estes, and was proofread and edited by Earl Estes, Roger Powell, Barbara Zorn and Eugene Powell. With over 170 pages of detailed information, it is a valuable resource. $24 each volume plus $5.50 postage.
1860 Federal Census of Greene County, VA, Compiled and printed by Eugene D. Powell, these census records were abstracted from microfilm of the original 1860 Federal census records. Four Post Offices were noted: Stanardsville, Ruckersville, McMullan, and Swift Run. Includes each person’s name, age, sex, race, and occupation. Powell has added a column for the estimated birth year of each individual listed. $16 plus $5.50 postage.
1900 Federal Census of Greene County, VA, Compiled and formatted by Barbara E. Zorn and Eugene D. Powell, This census information was abstracted from the microfilm of the original 1900 Federal census. The original census of 6,214 individuals was taken in June 1900. Enumerators were Michael H. Williams, John May Douglass, and W. N. McMullan. One Township and three Districts were noted, including Monroe, Ruckersville, McMullan, and Stanardsville. Includes each person's name, family relationship, race, sex, date of birth, age, marital status, years married, number of children, children living, birth state and occupation and notes. The census is 159 pages long and comes with a 24-page index of surnames. It is in an attractive hard bound (loose-leaf style) binder. $24 plus $5.50 postage.
